The Maltsovs were in a close contact with the Tyutchevs, the honorable noble family.
When heading for his estate in Ovstug, Tyutchev used to stay overnight at Maltsov’s and he also paid visits to Dyatkovo.
Undoubtedly, the poet was a welcome guest at Maltsov’s house. His verses were heard very often there sometimes evoked by the beauty of the local woodland, sometimes by the coming nasty weather. Tyutchev appreciated also the beauty of things, refinement of the table appointments. The Tyutchevsky set is decorated with a fine facet that requires very elaborate work and colossal accuracy. This facet has kept its historic name the small galosh. Refracting light rays into thousands of small patches this facet gives a soft shine to the noble material, creates elevated, poetical mood at the table.
